BNP member: 'I'm here to stay'

The BNP member of the London Assembly has launched an angry tirade at the first meeting of the Assembly.

Richard Barnbrook, who represents Barking and Dagenham and won the party's first seat at City Hall, told the other members "I'm here and I'm here to stay" at this morning's meeting.

The far-right politician is facing a boycott from the mainstream parties and has been warned to step back from promoting the British National Party's racist agenda.

Candidates from other parties walked out as he started his victory speech last weekend and staff at City Hall from ethnic minorities are reportedly reluctant to work with him.

"I don't care if I received one vote or a thousand - I'm here and I'm here to stay," the 47-year-old former artist angrily told the Assembly today.

He said that if other members continued to make comments about him he would have "no qualms going straight to the English Standards Board".

"I'm here to work for London with Londoners," he added.

Mr Barnbrook secured 5.3 per cent of the vote in last week's election, narrowly passing the five per cent required to sit in the Assembly.

Any Assembly members or staff who do not wish to work with a democratically elected member should resign immediately or face disciplinary action and loss of job. If they wish to campaign against a n elected member they can do this from ouside the Assembly where they are not paid to do a job, not abuse their position within it at taxpayers expense and to the detriment of the functioning of this body.

If Winston Churchill was alive today I know who's side he'd be on. Their refusal to deal with Richard who was elected by 130,000 worried Londoners is taking this country to the same level as Zimbabwe. Mugabe must be laughing his head off.

David, London says...

Ken and co. should be referred to as the now 'far richer' after the 'distribution' of taxpayers money to the various 'black groups. Millions that sometimes never saw the light of day.

I love it how people in power think they are invincible, then the unthinkable happens. If in 2005 you told Red Ken and Lee Jasper that in 2008 they would be out on their ears and a BNP candidate would have a seat on the GLA with the ability to research from the inside on past Mayoral financial affairs they would have sneered then laughed in your face.

They obviously forgot that it was only in 1989 that one of the worlds largest most oppressive regimes the Soviet Union which they both no doubt admired came crashing down with barely a shot fired in anger. People power was enough.

Do you think people who can't spell in English shouldn't vote - that would exclude most of the immigrants and bogus 'asylum seekers that have flooded in in the last few years. Ken Livingstone wasn't exactly an educated man and neither was the 'get rich quick merchant' and all his Black friends, Lee Jasper with his Mickey Mouse degree or the 'future 'architects',' lawyers' Black kids who were killed in the last couple of years by other Black kids (no doubt future 'architects'and 'lawyers' themselves. Maybe none of these should be allowed to vote as they have nor will ever have got any education.

Mike, its just a phase they are going through, many of them from well-off families and want something to rebel against or have the need to feel they have suffered or are suffering when the reality is they haven't, don't nor probably ever will suffer. It's the need to be part of a group with an aim and something to fight against, but everyone knows they are silly kids. The demonstraton against the War with up to 1 million protestors now that was something, but was ignored and we went to war for Israel anyway. The Media decide what is a 'meaningful' demonstration or not and who gets publicity - the kids are just being used.

130,000 people in london (probobly more like 500,000 after red ken mugabes (and his convicted burglar friends?) overnight tamperings)is a lot of people, something the middle class white kids and people yourself cant comprehend!so if 1 in a 1000 feel like leaving a comment about their elected representative it equals a lot of comments (un)fortunately, noth

Those who don't condemn the BNP as Nazi scum are not all BNP members - for instance 100,000 who voted for the BNP or do you say these are Nazi scum? People dont want the country to become Muslim, nor a place where White people are assaulted, raped and killed with impunity whose cultures don't find these things unacceptable and many hate White people or just want to get benefits from them. The BNP's racist agenda? I see plenty of racists here but not in the BNP.

Why did Boris Johnson hire a man who is runs a Black-only school to be his deputy mayor; isn't segregation supposed to be racist?

And why are ethnic "minority" staff members refusing to work with the only politician in city hall that represents the needs of Native British people? After all there are plenty of politicians who say they represent various "minority" groups. Isn't it racist to refuse Native Brits the same represention that everyone else already has?

The BNP are not promoting the foreigner over the native white British people, not elevating sexual perversions to levels of wide acceptability, not promoting Islam at the expense of Christian values, not attempting to destroy our traditional culture and identity - so why are the BNP "the baddies"? They are not - but look what Daniel Finkelstein, Associate Editor of The Times, says in the Jewish Chronicle: He thinks this BNP victory to be a calamity, firstly because “the new member can act a rallying point for neo-Fascists”.
He says “On London’s Carlton House Terrace, there is a tiny grave marked “Giro”. It contains the remains of the dog that had belonged to the ambassador from Nazi Germany. It is the only British soil the Nazis managed to conquer. Now there will be a space in City Hall too. You can expect the BNP to make full use of this”. We need look no further for the guilty ones.

How can Mr. Barnbrook face a "boycott from the mainstream parties"? Surely by gaining 130,000 votes in London, the BNP has shown itself to be one of the mainstream parties?

Every anti-Nazi music carnival by insalubrious drug-addicted rockers, every Communist rent-a-mob that descends upon City Hall to tell us whom we can’t vote for, and every act of discourtesy perpetrated by old gang political careerists on an elected representative provides yet one more compelling reason for voting for the BNP...

The other partys have to remember that the BNP member for the GLA was demacratly elected, as with the Nazi party in Germany it was elected. Then they destroyed demorocy in Germany and Hitler was made Chancelor.
Instead of turning their back on the BNP it would be more helpful for the other political partys to look at the reasons as to why people put their cross for the BNP. Then address the issuses that drove people to vote for the far right.
And if it matters I have dyslexia so please excuse the spelling mistakes.

The idea that the BNP are nazis is preposterous. They have an agenda of genocide, do they, which, now hidden, they will somehow “reveal” to a shocked and stunned British public once they are in power? This is absurd. (If you want to see pure racism then all you have to do is scroll up to ignoramus Ali's "I-can-get-away-with
-spewing-racist-filt
h-because-I'm-not-wh
ite" comments.) Their problem, though, is that they still do have residual traces of racism in their perspective. If the BNP left race behind entirely and focused only on culture and values they'd probably be ten times more popular than they are. As long as the BNP believes that people’s biologically-determi
ned appearance rather than what they believe in is what matters politically they will always be legitimately called racist. It’s up to them to show us convincingly that this is not true.

Also, if we have no problem calling Aboriginals and the Indians of Brazil "indigenous" then there should be no problem doing the same for indigenous Brits. Whether this should count politically is another matter - but the fact is there is an indigenous culture on these islands, just as there is an indigenous culture in Brazil and Australia.
