Stage hands at Epsom Playhouse are gearing themselves up to keep a close watch on the stage to make sure it copes when it comes under strain next month.
The pounding of 32 feet belonging to 16 substantial ballet dancers - average weight 16 stone - is enough to rock the foundations of some buildings.
But the Epsom Playhouse was built to last and the reinforced concrete under the stage should stand the strain.
The last time the Big Ballet visited Epsom the show was a triumph and the company is making a return visit by public demand for one night only on Tuesday October 7.
The group comes from Russia’s Ural Mountains, Tchaikovsky’s home town and sets out to challenge the usual preconceptions of what a ballet dancer should look like.
Epsom Playhouse says that it is a hilarious comedy show full of astonishing choreography but probably not an ideal outing for ballet purists.
